DWP and HMRC 'bring forward' date benefits will be paid out
by James Rodger, https://www.facebook.com/jamesrodgerjournalist · Birmingham LiveThe Department for Work and Pensions is set to roll out EARLY benefits next month. The DWP and HMRC will be paying some benefits early throughout the month of December, the two departments - which are now operating under the Labour Party government - have confirmed.
Christmas Day on December 25 will fall on a Wednesday, and Boxing Day on December 26 is on Thursday. Both HMRC, the taxman, and DWP, the benefits department, don't make benefit payments on bank holidays, if you are due cash on these dates, you will likely be paid earlier this month.
It means the DWP and HMRC will likely pay you on the final working day before Christmas which this year will be Tuesday, December 24. This means some claimants will be receiving their December Universal Credit payment potentially one or two days earlier than expected.

New Year's Day on January 1 is a Wednesday this year. If you are due for a benefit payment on January 1, then you will receive this payment a day earlier on December 31, because New Year's Day is a bank holiday across England, Scotland and Wales.
If you get paid early, you must make that money last, as you will have to wait extra days until your next payment date. If you expect a payment not paid on time, double-check the date you are usually paid and contact your bank.
