Emirates passengers flying through Dubai are being warned they cannot carry two items with them. The airline has said passengers are prohibited from taking the items on to its planes in checked or cabin baggage.

Anyone found to have the items with them will have them 'confiscated' by police. The rule applies to all flights travelling to, from and via Dubai.

The airline said pagers and walkie talkies are now banned. It comes amid mounting tensions in the Middle East.

Communication devices exploded across Lebanon in attacks in September. Walkie talkies and pagers used by Hezbollah members are understood to have detonated.

In an update on October 4, Emirates said: "All Passengers travelling on flights to, from or via Dubai are prohibited from transporting pagers and walkie talkies in checked or cabin baggage.

"Such items found in passengers' hand luggage or checked baggage will be confiscated by Dubai Police."
