Jet2 issues 'flight changes' warning to UK passengers saying 'beyond our control'

The affected Italy flights are being moved 50 miles away due to 'operational issues'

Jet2 passengers are facing eight days of disruption this autumn as flights 'to and from' a popular Italian airport are moved 50 miles away.

The airline has issued an alert to passengers due to catch flights to or from Naples International Airport as flights are being transferred. Jet2 said the decision was 'due to operational issues beyond our control'.

All Jet2 flights scheduled to depart or land at Naples from October 27 and November 3 will be affected. Instead, the services will operate at Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport, an hour's drive away.

In a statement titled 'Naples flight changes', Jet2 said: "Due to operational issues beyond our control at Naples Airport, between October 27 and November 3, 2024 inclusive, all our Naples flights will be operated to and from Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport.

"Just so you know, our booking and pre-departure systems, including Manage My Booking and any boarding passes, will still show flights at Naples Airport. Your flight number will stay the same."

Jet2 operates flights to and from Naples from several UK airports, including Birmingham Airport, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The airline recently announced plans for a major expansion of flights between the UK and Morocco, prompting concerns in Spain that 'our loss could be Morocco's gain'.

Jet2's Morocco expansion will see year-round flights operating to the North African hotspot from six UK airports through to winter 2025/26, increasing to eight bases from summer 2026.
