STAR CITY — The Star City Community Council is recommending the Northeast School Division discontinue Grades 7-12 starting with the 2025-2026 school year.

At the Aug. 21 SCCC meeting, three members voted for the discontinuance of grades in the approximately 500-person town located 200 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon, while two abstained.

The SCCC said in its minutes, “Having thoroughly reviewed and considered the input and data collected from the community, and the historical enrolment trends of the school, and the data and information shared by the NESD and School Administration,” the motion to discontinue Grades 7-12 was made.
