MIRI (Sept 29): The Sarawak Oil Palms (SOP) Foundation has rewarded 189 students from across Sarawak for their outstanding performance in the 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examinations.

A presentation ceremony of the education incentives was held at various locations, namely SMK Marudi in Marudi, SMK Sebauh in Sebauh, Lambir, Bakong Niah, Suai, Tatau and Balingian.

“Through the Young Achievers’ Award programme, these students receive cash awards and certificates as a source of inspiration and motivation for them to pursue their academic goals,” said SOP Foundation in a statement.

“As part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, we prioritise educational support, especially in underserved rural communities.

“We are dedicated to helping underprivileged children realize their educational aspirations and fostering a passion for learning,” it said.

Since its inception in 2016, the SOP Foundation has recognized and awarded a total of 1,392 deserving students through the YAA programme.

Apart from the YAA programme, SOP Foundation has also been actively engaging with local communities through CSR initiatives such as the Students Adoption Programme, SOP Foundation Vision Care Project and the Healthy Strides Malaysia – a programme held in collaboration with the Healthy Strides Foundation Australia.
