Disney+ has issued a 48-hour warning as the streamer is set to increase its prices this week. The streaming service from the House of Mouse has announced the price of its annual Standard plan will rise on Thursday, October 17, but there’s still time to lock in the current rate for a whole year.

Signing up for 12 months of the Disney+ Standard plan currently costs £79.90, saving members £15.98 compared to the monthly rate of £7.99. Disney+ has confirmed that from October 17, the cost of the annual plan will rise to £89.90, reducing the saving to £5.98.

Disney fans can still secure the current discount if they subscribe by 11.59pm on October 16, ensuring a full year of streaming top titles from the likes of Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar and more for £79.90. This gives members the equivalent of 12 months for the price of 10 and avoids the price increase for the next year, you can read our full Disney+ deals round-up here.

The streamer also offers several monthly subscription tiers for those not looking to make a long term commitment, which now start at £4.99 a month for the Standard with Ads plan. The price hike might deter new customers, so it’s always worth exploring other streaming platforms that offer attractive money-saving deals and free trials.

One such platform is Amazon’s Prime Video, which provides a yearly subscription for £95 – just £5.10 more than the new rate of Disney’s annual Standard plan. However, Amazon Prime members receive much more value for their money as Prime comes with numerous additional benefits.

Sky is also tempting new customers by offering its jam-packed TV and broadband plan for its ‘lowest ever price’.

The Sky Stream, Sky TV, Netflix and Full Fibre 300 bundle – usually priced at £52 a month – is now available for £40. This deal saves members a whopping £288 over the 24-month term and includes more than 200 TV channels, a free Netflix subscription and superfast fibre broadband with speeds of up to 300Mbps.
