The Repair Shop star Jay Blades has deleted all his social media accounts after being charged with controlling or coercive behaviour.

He was charged by West Mercia Police with one count of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship. According to court documents, his charge relates to his wife of almost two years, fitness instructor Lisa-Marie Zbozen, whom he split from earlier this year.

Blades, who will appear at Worcester Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on October 11, recently quit his role with the King's Foundation. The BBC and Channel 5 also axed his series from TV schedules and streaming sites. Amid his court case, Blades removed his social media pages.

His Instagram now leads to an empty page which says: "Sorry, this page isn't available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed." His other social media accounts have also disappeared. It comes as a BBC insider recently revealed the future of The Repair Shop.

The programme is made independently by Ricochet and sold to the BBC. "Decisions on who does and doesn’t feature in shows made by indies is entirely up to them," the insider claimed to The Sun. "But it can’t be clearer - the Beeb won’t feature any new shows in which he appears, until it is clear how legal proceedings conclude." The Mirror have reached out to the BBC for comment.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that the Brent-born star had quit his role with the King's Foundation - formerly the Prince's Foundation - after four years of charity work. In the wake of the charges against him, the organisation confirmed: "Jay Blades has informed us of his resignation from the ambassador role."

On Friday, the BBC removed David & Jay's Touring Toolshed from its evening schedule. It appears Channel 5 followed suit as his series, Jay Blades: The West End Through Time, is no longer available to watch on their streaming site My5.

The presenter will be appearing at Worcester Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on October 11. In a statement, West Mercia Police said: "54-year-old Jason Blades of Wolverhampton has been charged with controlling and coercive behaviour. He appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court this morning (Friday 13th September) and has been bailed to appear at Worcester Crown Court on Friday 11th October. The charges follow the launch of an investigation after we were called to an address on 3rd May."
