Walkers fans left delighted as best 'OG' crisp flavour set for epic return

A popular flavour of Walkers Crisps that was later phased out following its introduction in the 1990s is now back - and foodies can't wait to get their hands on it again

Walkers Crisps has been known to chop and change their choice of flavours since being founded in Leicester in 1948.

While the classic Ready Salted, Salt and Vinegar and Cheese and Onion have always avoided the chop, others over time have been and gone - including Worcester Sauce and Beef and Onion flavours.

Now, one flavour that was hugely popular following its original introduction in the 1990s is making a return as fans can't wait to taste it again and reminisce. A multi-pack of the item in question was shared to Reddit - prompting crisp lovers to express their excitement.

"The OG Barbecue Walkers are back and they taste exactly the same!" hailed the lucky finder in the CasualUK subreddit. Smokin' BBQ Sauce flavour in its instantly recognisable packet was phased out after several years with Marmite flavour and later BBQ Ribs took over as Walkers' staple black bag of crisps.

"No way!" exclaimed one Reddit user in response. "These were my favourite as a kid. I have fond memories of school discos and getting to choose a bag of crisps and I always went for barbecue. I shall be sniffing these out next time I'm near a supermarket!"

A second penned: "I will have to hunt these down, been using Lays BBQ as a substitute but it doesn't hit right." A third added: "Wow! Was not expecting that, I will have to try this out again for sure. I'm happy to see that they taste the same."

While a fourth person who also snapped them up recently exclaimed: "Finding these was incredibly exciting. I have had at least 15 crisp sandwiches since they returned."
