TOYS “R” Us is making a comeback in WHSmiths.

The US toy firm, which closed all its UK stores in 2018, is to open in 37 areas.

WHSmith will be launching three Toys “R” Us shop-in-shops across our high streets every week between September 28 and Christmas.

The process started last year, with the first site opening its doors in York.

Sean Toal, of WHSmith, said: “We take great pride in being the steward of this much-loved brand in the UK. We’ve had queues around the block for many openings in the last year.”

Toys “R” Us arrived in the UK in 1985 and at its peak had 105 stores.

Locations will include Leicester, Cardiff, Scarborough, Southport, Dumfries, Coventry and Carlisle.
