A Tesco shopper has celebrated her "massive win" after embarking on a "yellow sticker" shopping spree.

The customer was left astounded by the savings she had made, so much so that she quickly shared photographic evidence of her transaction on the CasualUK subreddit, writing: "Massive win at Tesco."

"Yellow sticker stuff is insane," commented another user. "I have only ever caught them a couple of times, but I know some people make it like a job to get the 'timing' right. I once got a quiche that was 3.30p for just 33p though. That was a result!"

Other shoppers then shared their own recent Tesco success stories. One delighted customer revealed: "Saw a pair of jeans there the other day. £22.50 reduced to £12. Winner. Scanned them, £10! I was made up. Scanned my clubcard and got 25% off so down to £7.50! I was grinning like the Cheshire Cat until I noticed I had a £1.50 voucher to use. £6 jeans!"

Another excitedly disclosed: "Happened to me with reduced section! There was vegan pasta or something that normally is £4. Was discounted to about £1.30 ish. When I scanned it it came up as 70p or 80p!"

Tesco could soon use artificial intelligence to warn shoppers when their baskets are becoming unhealthy, meanwhile. The firm's chief Ken Murphy said the technology could utilise Clubcard data to help 'nudge' them into making healthier choices.

Mr Murphy said: "I can see it nudging you over time, saying: 'I've noticed over time in your shopping basket that your sodium salt content is 250% of your daily recommended allowance. I would recommend you substitute this, this and this'."

He added: "It can help to bring your shopping bill down, reduce waste and improve the outcome and the power of that Clubcard," adding that AI "will completely revolutionise how customers interact with retailers".
