Boots has knocked 20% off two of its premium advent calendars - here's what's inside both calendars and how to get your hands on one
by Bethan Shufflebotham · The MirrorBeauty fans who are looking for the ultimate beauty advent calendar to count them down to Christmas can save 20% on two premium offerings at Boots with an early Black Friday deal. Hailed as ‘one of the best value on the market’ by beauty editors, shoppers can get 20% off the high street favourite’s 12-day and 24-day premium calendars with a discount code.
Usually £99 each, anyone who uses the code SAVE20 at the checkout after adding their calendar to their basket will be able to get it for £79.20. That means shoppers could save as much as £286 on the contents.
But, which one should you go for? We’ve had our beauty experts, Rachel Pugh and Shani Cohen, take a look inside the 24 day and 12 day calendars to help work out which one to buy.

The retailer’s 24 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar is worth £365.87, with half of the products inside being full sized. It’s packed with haircare, skincare, makeup and everything in between from brands like Urban Decay, Drunk Elephant and REN.
Manchester Evening News shopping editor Rachel Pugh described this calendar is ‘one of the best value on the market’, particularly for those who love premium make-up. And what’s more is that it pays for itself in just four products.
She said: “Let's take four of my favourite products inside; the Fenty Beauty Velvet Icon Liquid Lipstick (worth £24), bareMinerals Pore Minimizing Primer (worth £30), Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Matte (worth £30) and Huda Beauty Lip Blush Creamy Lip Stain in shade Rosy Kiss (worth £21). These are just four out of the 24 products inside, and have a combined total RRP of £105 - £6 more than the cost of the entire box.
“These are four products I'd happily pay full price for, as they're all things I'd use almost every time I do my makeup. The bareMinerals Pore Minimizing Primer is a personal favourite of mine, and I've used it for a good while, as it gives the perfect base for flawless foundation and concealer that doesn't crack.”
Shoppers have been equally as impressed with the calendar, with one commenting: “Great way to try new products. The few premium products far outweigh the cost of the box and the rest are a bonus.”
Another left a five star review, which read: “Best Advent Calendar Ever, it’s definitely worth the money, with a great array of products. I spent hours trying to get one last year without getting one, now I got it delivered 2 days after placing my order, I am very happy!”
Though one thought the box it came in was somewhat underwhelming, commenting: “Disappointed in the packaging - very boring hope contents are better.”
Meanwhile, the 12-day countdown is valued at £357.50, but is less than £80 with the discount code. Its highest value product inside is the Drunk Elephant A-GLOEI Virgin Marula 30ml, worth £65 alone.
Beauty obsessed Shani unboxed the haul and was impressed by the contents, commenting: “One thing that makes the Boots calendar stand out is the impressive line-up of brands. You’ve got some seriously big hitters here: Huda Beauty, Sol de Janeiro, Drunk Elephant, KVD, Bobbi Brown, and Too Faced, to name a few. Plus, this calendar isn’t skimping on sizes - many of the items are full-sized, which is definitely a win when you're forking out nearly £100.
“One of my personal highlights is the Sol de Janeiro Beija Flor Body Wash which RRP's for £23. I’m a sucker for anything from this brand because it always makes me feel like I’m on a tropical vacation. This body wash smells incredible and leaves your skin feeling so soft - perfect for getting that summer glow in the middle of winter.”
However, if £80 feels a little steep still, despite the calibre of the brands inside, there are some more affordable options on offer. The Boots Macmillan calendar is worth over £150 and was originally priced at £90, but has been reduced to £44. The health and beauty retailer is also stocking countdowns from the likes of Profusion, 17 Cosmetics calendars, Ted Baker and Soap and Glory, for those seeking a more affordable option - some of these are as little as £20 as part of the sale.
Even more luxe, though, is the retailer’s No7 The Ultimate 25 Day Beauty Advent Calendar valued at over £500. It’s usually £175, but the code ADVENTSAVE25 will take it down to £131.25.
Away from Boots, ESPA’s wellbeing advent calendar has been discounted exclusively at LookFantastic ahead of Black Friday. The calendar, which is worth £488, was originally £175, but now has 10% off, taking the total down to £157.50. And at Debenhams, shoppers can save 10% on the Benefit Gorgeous Grocer Beauty Advent Calendar, taking the price down from £156 to £140.40.
Or you can shop the premium beauty advent calendars at Boots here using the code SAVE20 at the checkout.
