Asda has revealed the exact date it will open its Christmas delivery slots for this festive season.

With only 10 weeks to go until Christmas, many Brits are probably starting to think about the big day - and in particular, the food they will be serving. Many chains have announced their Christmas delivery times recently and joining the list today is Asda.

The supermarket chain announced today that shoppers will be able to pre-book their Christmas delivery food slot from Tuesday, October 22. But like other major chains, some shoppers can book their slot a little earlier. Asda's Delivery Pass customers will be able to book a delivery or click and collect slots online or through the app a week earlier from October 15.

Although there are more than two months until the big day, more people are looking to start a little earlier this year and spread the cost. Asda has found that the number of customers searching for "Christmas" on its website has risen by 27% compared with the same period last year.

Asda says it will offer over one million home delivery slots in the week before Christmas this year. If you want to book earlier, you will need then to sign up for an Asda Delivery pass; however, this will cost you extra. Signing up for a pass wipes out the delivery cost for your individual shop.

Currently, a Midweek Delivery Pass costs £3.95 a month - or £39.50 a year - and offers pass holders delivery and collection slots on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Asda's anytime pass offers the same deal on any day of the week and can be purchased for £6.95 a month or for a one-off payment of £69.50. The anytime delivery pass also gives shoppers access to recurring slots - meaning they can pre-book the same delivery time each week - free next day delivery on all orders, and free next day collection. Anytime pass holders can also get "priority" access slots for both Christmas and Easter.

The supermarket chain also offers a "savings guarantee" with its anytime pass. According to Asda, by signing up for a delivery pass customers could potentially save up to £194 a year on delivery costs.

So, if the pass hasn't saved you money by the end of the year, Asda says it will refund you the difference in an e-voucher. It's important to remember that the minimum online spend at Asda is £40 for delivery and £25 for click-and-collect.

Georgina Bell, Interim Senior Director of Asda.com, said: “Before we know it, the festive season is upon us, and lots of our customers will be looking at ways they can get ahead of the preparations. This year in particular, we’ve seen a significant increase in online searches for Christmas products, from as early as mid-September.

“Shoppers can also make changes or additions to their basket up until 11pm the night before their delivery or collection, which we know is important for those ever-evolving Christmas plans to celebrate with family and friends.”
