Jet2 issues warning for passengers heading to popular Italian destination this half term

by · Manchester Evening News

Jet2 has issued a message to passengers flying to a popular Italian city this October half term. Holidaymakers heading to Naples Airport from October 27 to November 3 have been told that flights will operate to and from Salerno Costa d’Amalfi airport instead.

The airline said that this is “due to operational issues beyond our control” at Naples Airport. Salerno Costa d’Amalfi airport is an hour’s drive away from Naples, while Naples Airport is in the heart of the city.

Passengers need to take extra care when planning their journey as Jet2 added that their boarding passes and booking systems will continue to show ‘Naples Airport’ despite the change. Holidaymakers will need to allow extra time to arrive at Salerno Costa d’Amalfi airport if they're staying in the city.

In a statement, the airline added: “Due to operational issues beyond our control at Naples Airport, between 27 October and 3 November 2024 inclusive, all our Naples flights will be operated to and from Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport. Just so you know, our booking and pre-departure systems, including Manage My Booking and any boarding passes, will still show flights at Naples Airport. Your flight number will stay the same.”

Jet2 flies to Naples from several airports in the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds Bradford and Edinburgh. As a gateway to the Amalfi Coast, it’s popular for holidaymakers looking to visit gorgeous coastal locations such as Sorrento, while the ancient ruins of Pompeii sit just outside the city.
