When is Black Friday 2024?
Black Friday isn't the same date every year, although it traditionally falls on the first Friday after the American celebration of Thanksgiving, which this year means it'll take place on 29 November 2024. Four weekends before Christmas, it marks one of the busiest – and best – shopping events in the year, and a great time to make a dent in your Christmas shopping while saving money.
You'll usually to able to shop thousands of impressive money-saving deals across that whole weekend until Cyber Monday (2 December) – with certain offers even starting earlier and carrying on longer.
When do the Black Friday 2024 sales start in the UK?
While the majority of retailers will launch their Black Friday sales at 00:01 on 29 November 2024, many will introduce early offers in that week leading up to that Friday.
If you've got your eye on something in particular, it's a good idea to keep checking the brands' websites in that week leading up to Black Friday to ensure you don't miss out on the biggest saving. Some will also have the option of signing up to be one of the first to hear when deals drop.
When do the Black Friday 2024 sales end?
Black Friday deals typically stay active over that whole weekend and end at 11:59 on Cyber Monday, which this year falls on 2 December 2024 – although some retailers may continue to lower prices throughout December. However, while some prices may drop further as the weekend goes on, you also run the risk of your favourite item selling out if you wait too long before buying.
Why is it called Black Friday?
The phrase 'Black Friday' supposedly comes from the term that police in the US used to refer to the crowds of people and heavy traffic that came with the start of the Christmas shopping season. Nowadays, it's widely used by retailers to mark this day (or days) of deals at the end of November.

What brands are taking part in Black Friday 2024?
We don't know yet exactly which retailers will be slashing their prices this November but you can be sure that lots of the big online and bricks-and-mortar stores will be getting involved. This includes the likes of Amazon, John Lewis, eBay, LookFantastic, ASOS, Boots and Currys.
We've also already seen a few brands dropping early deals, including Dyson, Face the Future and Boots. Last year's Black Friday 2023 also saw loads of offers on top tech brands including Samsung, Ninja and Apple.
How to find the best Black Friday deals
We predict that many retailers, big and small, will be launching sales around this time, so it can be hard to know if you're getting the best deal on the day. We recommend shopping around before clicking 'buy', to ensure you're getting your favourite item for the best possible price.
