Virgin Atlantic, TUI and British Airways cancelled flights to Florida - full list

Airlines including Virgin Atlantic, TUI and British Airways have all been forced to cancel or reschedule flights to Florida due to Hurricane Milton which has caused major travel disruption. The tropical storm made landfall on Wednesday night, battering the west coast with winds of over 100mph, heavy rain and tornadoes.

Several airports in the state already announced closures due to the hurricane earlier in the week. Orlando International Airport ceased commercial operations from 8am local time on Wednesday, October 9 and said “commercial operations will resume as soon as possible based on damage assessment.”

Tampa Airport has also suspended operations “until it is safe to reopen”. Melbourne Orlando International Airport is also closed, stating it plans to reopen on Friday at 9am “pending safe conditions”.

As a result of the disruption thousands of passengers have had their flights cancelled from the UK to Florida. Below are the latest cancelled flights and updates for October 10 form major airlines.

Virgin Atlantic

The airline said that the hurricane has “impacted our flying schedule, and services to and from Orlando and Tampa are subject to cancellations and delays.” It said it was contacting impacted customers to discuss their options.

Cancelled flights for Thursday, October 10

  • VS129 – London Heathrow to Tampa
  • VS130 – Tampa to London Heathrow
  • VS073 – Manchester to Orlando
  • VS074 – Orlando to Manchester
  • VS075 – Manchester to Orlando
  • VS076 – Orlando to Manchester
  • VS091 – London Heathrow to Orlando
  • VS092 – Orlando to London Heathrow
  • VS135 - London Heathrow to Orlando
  • VS136 – Orlando to London Heathrow
  • VS225 – Edinburgh – Orlando has been delayed by a further 23 hours and will now operate on Friday 11 October.

TUI

Tui said the safety of its customers remains its “top priority”. It is rescheduling two flights scheduled for October 10, which will now depart on October 11. The airline said it would contact customer directly to confirm the new flight times. These flights are:

  • 10/10/24 – TOM742 from Glasgow Airport
  • 10/10/24 – TOM664 from Birmingham Airport

It added: The one flight scheduled to operate to Melbourne Orlando International Airport on Friday 11th October will operate as planned. This flight is:

  • 11/10/24 – TOM246 from Manchester Airport

British Airways

The airline said in a statement: “Safety is always our highest priority and we continue to monitor the situation closely.

“As with other airlines, we are adjusting our flight schedules where airport closures occur and providing any affected customers with alternatives, including flight rebooking options or full refunds.”

It has cancelled three flights from London Gatwick to Tampa and Orlando today.

These are:

  • BA2037 to Orlando
  • BA2167 to Tampa
  • BA2039 to Orlando

Aer Lingus has also cancelled flight EI35 from Manchester Airport to Orlando today.
