Key Facts

Gorman, the former CEO and current chairman of investment bank Morgan Stanley, will step into the Disney chairman role Jan. 1, 2025, replacing former Nike CEO Mark Parker as Disney chairman.

In a statement accompanying the press release, Gorman said Disney will name Iger’s successor by “early 2026” for the next CEO to take over when Iger’s contract expires at the end of that year.

Gorman is “expertly guiding the extensive search process for a new CEO, which remains a top priority for the Board,” Parker said in a statement.

Disney’s chief executive since Nov. 2022, Iger was previously the entertainment conglomerate’s leader from 2005 to 2020, returning after a period of turmoil at the company.
