MTN Ghana Holds its Annual Editors’ Forum

MTN Ghana, a leading telecommunications company in Ghana, held its annual 2024 Media/Editors Forum under the theme “Delivering Digital Solutions for Ghana’s Progress.

The forum provided an opportunity for media personnel and company management to exchange ideas on enhancing MTN’s services.

The event was attended by over a hundred senior editors and reporters from both public and independent media organizations.

The company highlighted its ongoing activities and the opportunities it is exploring to achieve its Ambition 2025 strategic intent of “Leading Digital Solutions for Africa’s Progress” and its mission “To Make the Lives of Our Customers a Whole Lot Brighter.”

The Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer (CCSSO) of MTN Ghana, Adwoa Wiafe, addressed the editors, emphasizing the achievements of the MTN Ghana Foundation in transforming lives through social investments and digital empowerment.

Since its inception in 2007, the MTN Ghana Foundation has made significant strides in social investments, positively impacting communities nationwide.

To date, the Foundation has implemented 166 social projects, investing $6.5 million to benefit over 4.5 million lives across Ghana. The Foundation’s initiatives have transformed key sectors, with investments in ICU centers, dormitories, and robotics centers.

“This year, we launched a monthly robotics center and continued our work in healthcare, which includes constructing hospitals,” a Foundation representative stated.

Among the Foundation’s flagship programs is TOSC (Technology, Opportunities, Sustainability, and Community), focusing on providing advanced healthcare solutions, particularly in diagnostics—a critical gap in the country’s healthcare system.

“We are prioritizing diagnostic services to improve healthcare outcomes,” the representative added.

In addition to healthcare, the MTN Ghana Foundation has prioritized economic empowerment, particularly through micro-enterprise support.

The Foundation offers digital marketing training, helping small businesses leverage the internet to scale and grow within their communities.

As part of its digital transformation efforts, the Foundation is heavily investing in digital initiatives. It launched a Digital Skills Academy in partnership with Coursera, offering young people free access to a variety of courses.

“We encourage everyone to participate in this initiative. Once registered, participants can select courses and upskill at no cost,” Wiafe explained.

Looking ahead, the Foundation’s plans include expanding ICT projects and facilities to ensure that more people have access to digital tools and resources, further driving social impact across Ghana.
