The Shark Steammop has been a real game-changer for one dog owner who was fed up of a house full of muddy paw prints.

Autumn is the season of pumpkins, lattes, jumpers and, for dog owners, muddy paws. The so-called 'cosy season' brings a drop in temperature and the return of wet dog walks.

This inevitably results in lots of mud and dirt being dragged into the house, much to the despair of dog parents. As a result, they are unable to let their pooch out for a quick toilet break in the garden without a leaving a mucky trail behind.

For dog owner Samuel Jones, the situation got so bad that they were even forced to replace the carpet in the front room with a hard floor due to the amount of dirt that found its way into their home, the Mirror.

However, earlier this year, he discovered a fantastic solution to quickly get rid of the dirt and keep the floors looking clean - the Shark Steammop. "A family member gave it to us after hearing our complaints about how the kitchen floor always seemed to look dirty, and it's been excellent at keeping everything under control," he explained.

Priced at £69.99 from Shark, it's not an overly expensive product, although there are more costly, advanced versions available that do most of the hard work for you. It's lightweight, easy to manoeuvre and operates via a simple pump action mechanism.

Importantly, setting it up is a breeze just fill the tank, plug it in, and it's ready to use almost immediately. The steam mop has earned acclaim as a revolutionary cleaning tool for laminate floors, which must not be soaked and where traditional mopping methods fall short.

For bigger areas, wipes may seem convenient but can add up to be quite expensive, aside from being tedious with all the constant grabbing for a new one.

The steam mop excels in leaving the living room gleaming without soaking the floor. However, it does have its imperfections; stubborn stains might need a few attempts to clean.

One user on Shark's website did comment that the steam mop "feels a little flimsy", yet added that "nothing has failed in first month of regular use".

Those seeking an economical option might consider spin mops like the Vileda mop, which costs £24.66 on Amazon and requires a bit more elbow grease. For those willing to invest a bit more, the Vax steam mop priced at £79 on Amazon comes with an integrated handheld steamer ideal for tackling everything from taps and tiles to windows and mirrors.
