Castle Rock Brewery building on sale for £950,000 as business 'assessing options'
by Rucsandra Moldoveanu · NottinghamshireLiveNottingham's Castle Rock Brewery could relocate as the building it currently occupies has gone up for sale. The site, located on Traffic Street, Nottingham, is listed for £950,000.
But bosses say they are not surprised by the news of the sale, as they revealed the brand is currently assessing its options. The brewery started in 1997 as a partnership between the Bramcote Brewing Company and the Tynemill pub group, receiving several expansions over the years.
The site on Traffic Street also includes the Vat and Fiddle pub, which showcases the largest available range of Castle Rock beers. A spokeswoman for the company confirmed that, should the sale go ahead, the pub will not be affected.
Jessica Collins, marketing manager at Castle Rock Brewery, said: "We are not surprised by the news, our current brewery and taproom site is comprised of a complex, three lease situation. However, it’s important to note that the Vat and Fiddle itself will be unaffected if this sale went through, as it is not part of the land offered for sale.
"We are currently assessing our options, with Castle Rock employees at the heart of any future decisions, as well as a commitment to continue brewing and providing the beers our customers know and love." Around 30 people work for the company across its head office and brewery.
Steve Westby, Nottingham Campaign for Real Ale's chairman, said: "It sounds like they're looking to relocate and the important thing is that the city doesn't lose its brewery because they brew excellent beer and have highly regarded pubs. One can only hope they'll find a suitable new property and carry on successfully as they have done for the past almost 30 years."
According to the listing on Rightmove, the property that is advertised is formed of an attached 1900s warehouse and office premises containing interconnected blocks of single storey, two storey and four storey elements.
The site boasts 0.34 acres (0.14ha), with the existing buildings covering most of the site.
