Emirates issues urgent warning to passengers travelling to and from Dubai

The airline has said passengers are prohibited from taking the items on to its planes in checked or cabin baggage

Emirates passengers have been issued a strict warning as the airline says travellers flying through Dubai cannot carry two particular items. Pagers and walkie-talkies are now banned from being taken onto Emirates flights, whether in checked or cabin baggage.

Police will confiscate any such devices found. This rule applies to all flights going to, from, and via Dubai amid increasing Middle East tensions.

In Lebanon, communication devices were involved in explosions during attacks in September, with devices used by Hezbollah members detonating. Emirates announced on October 4: "All Passengers travelling on flights to, from or via Dubai are prohibited from transporting pagers and walkie-talkies in checked or cabin baggage."

"Such items found in passengers' hand luggage or checked baggage will be confiscated by Dubai Police.", reports Birmingham Live.
