Lidl launches its own Christmas truck which will be handing out gifts - full list of areas it will visit
by Sam Cooper, Levi Winchester · NottinghamshireLiveLidl is set to spread festive cheer with its very own big red Christmas Freeway cola truck, embarking on a tour starting November 14. The supermarket's unmistakable vehicle will visit nine UK cities, including Dundee, Wrexham, and Wolverhampton.
In each city, Lidl plans to distribute more than 2,000 presents, shopping vouchers, and food samples.
As part of this Christmas initiative, visitors at the truck stops can submit a wish, and Lidl has pledged to fulfil several of those wishes. To celebrate the launch of the Freeway cola truck, Lidl has also released a Christmas advert featuring Nick, who brings the truck to life.
Joanna Gomer, marketing director at Lidl GB, commented: "Giving back to the communities we serve is really important to us and our exciting new Freeway truck allows us to get right into the heart of them this year. By touring nine stops across the country, we'll be using our giant truck to hand out present boxes, give away festive food shops and grant wishes that will make dreams come true. Look out for the Freeway truck on its tour and most importantly, come join the fun."
This announcement follows news from Coca-Cola about the return of their renowned Christmas Truck Tour for 2024. For every guest visiting the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour, an equivalent meal donation will be made on their behalf, reports the Mirror.
Coca-Cola is on a mission to provide up to one million meals through FareShare during this holiday season. For those who can't make it to the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck in person, there's a promotion with Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and Coca-Cola Original Taste. Fans are invited to scan on-pack QR codes for a chance to win thousands of festive gifts, including pre-loaded £200 "Festive Feast" gift cards.
Updates about the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour schedule will be announced over the coming weeks on Instagram @CocaColaGBI and Twitter @CocaCola_GB. This news follows Lidl's announcement of plans to open ten new stores across the country before Christmas.
The new stores will be located in places such as Berwick Green in Bristol, Bovey Tracey in Devon, and Stirchley in Birmingham. Three of these stores will be in London, specifically Hoxton, Forest Gate and Caterham, as part of Lidl GB's plan to establish a "strong foothold" in the capital.
Lidl also plans to reopen three existing stores that have been either relocated or refurbished and extended, including its Chessington location, Connah's Quay and Dagenham Heathway.
