The Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to celebrate its 92nd Air Force Day on October 8 in Chennai with a grand event, showcasing India's air defence capacities.

This year, the theme is 'Bharatiya Vayusena: Saksham, Sashakt aur Aatmnirbhar' (Indian Air Force: Capable, Strong, and Self-reliant), highlighting the force's commitment to national security, self-reliance, and modernisation.

The celebrations will feature a spectacular flypast over Marina Beach, showcasing 64 aircraft from various categories, reflecting India's growing air power and military readiness. Aircraft such as the Su-30, MiG-29, Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), Chetak, Dakota, and Jaguars will be on display. The Navy's anti-submarine warfare aircraft, the P8I, will also make an appearance, while the Army’s Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mk4 will join the aerial showcase.

The flypast will include a series of formations, demonstrating the precision and skill of the IAF. Spectators can expect to witness iconic formations like the Arrowhead, Trishul, and Vic, featuring fighter jets such as the Su-30, MiG-29, and Jaguars, according to officials.

The Rudra formation will spotlight the LCH and ALH Mk4 helicopters. The participation of the Navy’s P8I and the Dakota will add a vintage touch, while synchronised aerobatics by the IAF's Surya Kiran and Sarang teams are set to be a visual treat, showcasing intricate aerial manoeuvres and acrobatics that exemplify the skill of India's air warriors.

The two-hour spectacle will include a captivating display of India’s air power through aerial drills and flypasts, the officials added.

Rehearsals are scheduled for October 4, with a special flypast on October 6. The grand finale will take place on October 8, marking the official Air Force Day celebrations.
