If you thought getting a ticket for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour in Mumbai was tough, finding a place to stay for the concert weekend might be even harder.

With Coldplay set to perform at DY Patil Stadium on January 18-19 and 21, 2025, hotel prices in Mumbai have skyrocketed, which might leave fans scrambling for accommodation.

Hotel prices around the concert venue have surged by up to 300%, turning what could have been a fun weekend into a pricey affair.

From budget to luxury hotels, rooms are now costing several times their usual rates, making attending the concert an expensive outing beyond just the ticket price.

For instance, according to data from MakeMyTrip, the Westin Mumbai Powai Lake, is offering rooms for Rs 51,500 on January 18, 2025. This is a massive jump compared to its price of Rs 18,000 (excluding taxes) on September 25, 2024.

Similarly, Taj The Trees Mumbai has raised its rates to Rs 67,000 for the same weekend, compared to Rs 24,900 in September 2024.

The JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar is charging Rs 50,000 for January 18, 2025, a considerable increase from its Rs 28,500 price on September 25, 2024.

Even The Leela Mumbai has increased its prices, with rooms starting at Rs 55,000 for the Coldplay weekend, compared to Rs 14,000 on September 27, 2024.

The surge in hotel rates is not surprising given the overwhelming demand as Coldplay fans from across the country and beyond flock to Mumbai for the highly anticipated event.

While DY Patil Stadium is set to host thousands of concert-goers, the nearby hotels are seizing the opportunity, capitalising on the influx of visitors to the city.

Many fans might have to figure out how to manage their budgets, with the cost of accommodation surpassing the price of the concert tickets.

The ticket prices for the Music of the Spheres tour range from Rs 2,500 to Rs 12,000, but staying near the venue might cost even more, especially as hotels continue to raise rates closer to the event.

Coldplay’s return to India, their first performance since the Global Citizen Festival in 2016, has generated tremendous excitement among its fans.
