15 cars sold over 10,000 units in October. Ertiga, Creta, Punch, Scorpio drove demand

9 SUVs and 6 non-SUVs clocked sales of more than 10,000 units in October.

October was a month of festivities, marked by Navaratri, Dhanteras and Diwali. Despite headwinds, the car market witnessed handsome wholesales (despatches to dealerships) as companies anticipated strong retails (sales to customers) driven by the festive rush and mega offers. During the month, at least 15 models garnered volumes of more than 10,000 units.

Cars with wholesales of over 10,000 units in October

In October, Maruti Suzuki India sold more than 10,000 units of nine models, while Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra had two models each with sales of over 10,000 units.

The Ertiga, Swift, Brezza, Fronx, Baleno, Grand Vitara, WagonR, Dzire and Eeco were among the Maruti models. Hyundai models included the Creta and the Venue, Tata models were the Punch and the Nexon, and the Scorpio and the XUV700 were the Mahindra models.

Also, SUVs continued to dominate the car market, with nine such models registering sales of 10,000+ units in October. Six non-SUV models were on the list, and, unsurprisingly, all of them were from Maruti.

The Ertiga carried on its fabulous form, being the top-seller for the second month running with sales of 18,785 units. The Creta was the top-selling SUV at 17,497 units. The XUV700 was the most expensive model in the list with sales of 10,435 units.
