M&S shoppers rush to buy 'showstopper' £75 coat compared to £810 designer brand

The Textured Detachable Scarf Wrap Coat has an unusual style perfect for adding a sophisticated touch to any cold weather outfit while keeping you warm and cosy too, with a matching detachable scarf for various styling options. Priced at £75, the button-down coat is made in a relaxed fit and comes in classic black with delicate white trims, making it perfect for dressing up or down to make a statement at all manner of occasions this season.
What's more, it also bears a strong resemblance to the Toteme Wool Blend Jacket, which has a strikingly similar design with contrasting trims and a detachable scarf - but has a price tag of £810 at the likes of Net-A-Porter and Selfridges. Fans of the budget-friendly M&S version have described it as "stylish and smart" and "a great addition to a winter wardrobe" in a string of rave reviews.
One shopper hailed it as "Toteme at a fraction of the price", writing in the reviews section: "Well-made super cosy coat, lovely detailing. Looks super as casual or dressy."
Another fan of the garment said: "Love this coat with the matching detachable scarf. Great quality, very stylish! Warmer than I expected but not too thick, great over jumpers."
A third M&S customer raved: "Lovely, lovely coat. Style something a bit different. So stylish. Material really soft. Like that you can detach the scarf too. "
And someone else praised: "Stunning jacket and scarf! Great quality and fabulous style."
Overall, all but one reviewer awarded the coat the full five stars, although one person said they found the fit "too small across the chest" which meant that the rest of it "did not hang right".
For a similar look elsewhere on the high street, the Boohoo Contrast Stitch Detail Jacket With Scarf has been reduced down to just £37.50 at Debenhams, although only selected sizes are left in stock, while John Lewis is offering a Navy Crop Scarf Coat for £69.
