Space NK warns customers against scam sites offering cheap products
by MARIA CHIORANDO FOR MAILONLINE · Mail OnlineCustomers are being warned against buying a high end beauty advent calendar which has been advertised at an extremely low price on Instagram.
Beauty brand Space NK released its £250 advent calendar recently.
It is currently sold out on the official website, but adverts on Instagram recently have been advertising the product at just £28.99. There is also a website promoting the item.
Space NK has warned customers against falling for the adverts, and is reportedly trying to get the adverts removed from Meta platforms.
According to Sky News, one customer bought the item hoping it was mistakenly priced so affordably, and that the seller would honour the purchased.
However, after realising it was a scam, they contacted their bank Monzo, and were refunded.
Space NK is currently trying to have the scam website taken down, and in the meantime, warning customers not to be fooled by the impossibly low price point.
Speaking to Sky News, Jini Sanassy, head of public relations, said: 'Space NK has one trading website, www.spacenk.com.
'We implore customers to be cautious of websites or sellers offering similar products at unusually low prices. The website could have Space NK in some form in the URL so we recommend being vigilant.
'Our legal teams are aware of this, which has affected several retailers in recent months. We have also reported to Meta and I hope a quick response is received so further customers are not duped.'
Those who think they have been scammed should contact their bank
Space NK's advent calendar, which is advertised as having a value of £1,200 is priced at £250.
In its own description for the product, the brand said: 'Keen to know which beauty buys are included in the most spectacular advent calendar of the year without spoiling your daily surprise?
'Fear not, we’ve listed the 35 joyful beauty treats that are hidden behind the 25 doors in alphabetical order.
'With 23 full-size beauty products from some of our all-time favourite brands, including Rare Beauty, Summer Fridays and Medik8, it goes without saying this is our most extraordinary advent calendar to date.'
