McDonald's fan favourite is returning to the UK after almost a DECADE

A legendary McDonald's item is returning to the menu for a limited time this month - almost ten years after it vanished from the restaurant.

The popular McRib will make its grand return on October 16, and fans of the fast food chain are thrilled the favourite burger is heading back to the UK.

The McRib, a pork patty topped with tangy barbecue sauce, pickles, and onions in a soft bun, was removed from McDonald's UK offerings almost 10 years ago, despite its cult following since its debut in 1981.

In recent weeks, McDonald's had been teasing the return of a much-loved item, sparking a frenzy among fans across social media.

The popular McRib is coming back on October 16 - almost a decade after it was removed from the fast food chain's menus in the UK

The biggest clue came in September when the fast food giant 'accidentally' leaked a cryptic notification via its app, fuelling speculation on social media.

The message, reading "McRib_Test.notification_16.10.24 [TEST]," hinted at a major return, but when users clicked on it, they were met with a 404 error page.

McDonald's then posted a mysterious follow-up message below the error screen, which read: "There is definitely currently no reason for this page to not exist. Probably."

Fans quickly decoded the hints, correctly predicting the McRib's return on October 16.

McDonald's has now confirmed that the McRib will indeed be available for a limited time starting this month.

Priced at £4.49 for the sandwich alone, and £6.19 as part of a medium extra value meal, the McRib's reappearance comes after what McDonald's describes as years of 'fan petitions and countless social media pleas.'

The long awaited return has set social media alight, with fans flocking to X to express their excitement.

One user wrote, H**y b*s I think the McRib is coming back,' while another exclaimed, 'MCRIB IS BACK ON THE 16TH!!'

Others joined in, with one fan humorously predicting, 'That's me putting a stone in fat on,' and another posting an emotional image of actor Steve Carell with the caption: 'When you read the McRib is coming back to the UK this October.'

As the October 16 release date nears, McDonald's customers are eagerly awaiting the chance to relive the saucy nostalgia of one of the chain's most legendary menu items.

Meanwhile, Americans have been left stunned after finding out the difference in the ingredients used for both U.S. and UK McDonald's products.

The might look the same and, to a large extent, taste the same.

But a Big Mac meal from McDonald's is vastly different is America compared to the UK - at least when it comes to calories and their ingredient lists.

Not only do some items have up to three times more additives in the US, many have been linked to major health issues like cancer and heart disease.
