McDonald's launches first ever £5 meal deal in the UK

by · Mail Online

McDonald's have launched a new meal deal offering customers four items for just £5.

The American fast-food brand said the offer is now available and customers will be able to customise it to suit them.

They can choose a cheeseburger or a mayo chicken, plus a medium drink, fries and four chicken nuggets.

Buying these items individually would cost around £7.46, meaning they would save £2.46 with the offer.

It's now available in most branches, with customers able to order it from 11am - after breakfast is finished.

But foodies will not be able to order it from the comfort of their own home, as it is only available to purchase in store.

Not all restaurants are running the promotion, so there is no guarantee that you will be able to get the food at a discounted price.

McDonald's currently do not sell four chicken nuggets separately on the menu and they are currently only available in a Happy Meal.

They only sell packets of six individually, which usually cost around £4.19 depending on what restaurant you are buying from, as some are owned by different franchisees.

A cheeseburger alone costs £1.39, the same as a mayo chicken. A medium soft drink is £1.59, medium fries are £1.69 and four chicken McNuggets costs £2.79 (based on a pro-rata of the price for six Chicken McNuggets).

MailOnline has also asked McDonald's whether this deal is permanent or for a limited time only.

The corporation also delighted fans after announcing that a legendary item will be returning to the menu for a limited time this month.

The popular McRib will make its grand return on October 16, almost ten years after it vanished from the restaurant.

The McRib, a pork patty topped with tangy barbecue sauce, pickles, and onions in a soft bun, was removed from McDonald's UK offerings almost 10 years ago, despite its cult following since its debut in 1981.

In recent weeks, McDonald's had been teasing the return of the much-loved item, sparking a frenzy among fans across social media.

Priced at £4.49 for the sandwich alone, and £6.19 as part of a medium extra value meal, the McRib's reappearance comes after what McDonald's describes as years of 'fan petitions and countless social media pleas.'
