Mohamed Salah speaks up about Liverpool renewal

Mohamed Salah has left his future in the club’s hands while insisting he would be open to spending the rest of his playing days at Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah has helped Liverpool banish the painful memories of the 2020/21 campaign after starting the new season with a bang. Scorer of 12 goals in 11 games across all competitions, the Egyptian is already touted for the Ballon d’Or award later this year.

However, the more pressing matter of the hour remains his renewal at Liverpool. Salah has a contract until 2023, and prolonged talks have been occurring for some time now. The Reds’ talisman and the club are not thought to be close to an agreement, as they mull over the forward’s salary demands.

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to make Salah their highest-paid player with a long-term deal. Danny Mills recently urged the club to offer the player a bumper deal of his liking.

Despite all the off-field chatter, Salah continues to perform in the Liverpool shirt. His goals and performances have been very brilliant, even getting praise from his manager, who described the Egyptian as the best player in the world.

Salah will have a tremendous chance to showcase his talents when Liverpool travel to Manchester United on Sunday. A win at Old Trafford will help Liverpool keep up the pressure on closest rivals Chelsea and Manchester City, provided they win their game on Saturday.

Salah has been speaking to the media regarding various topics, including his future at Merseyside, and he told Sky Sports that he wishes to finish his career at Liverpool if possible while leaving the call on his future at the club’s hands.

Salah said, “If you ask me, I would love to stay until the last day of my football career, but I can’t say much about that – it’s not in my hands. It depends on what the club wants, not on me. At the moment, I can’t see myself ever playing against Liverpool.”

“That would make me sad. It’s hard, I don’t want to talk about it, but it would make me really sad. At the moment, I don’t see myself playing against Liverpool but let’s see what will happen in the future.”

Going by the form that Salah has shown early in the season, it will be foolish of Liverpool to not hand Salah a bumper new deal with the wages of his liking. What now remains to be seen is the Merseyside giants can secure the long-term future of their talisman quickly.
