A teenage rapper from Sweden was reportedly shot and killed on Thursday night in Stockholm.

Einar, 19, whose real name was Nils Kurt Erik Einar Grönberg, is believed to have been shot in the head and chest in the city of Hammarby Sjöstad.

Reports suggests emergency services were called to assist but the victim died at the scene.

A police investigation is underway but no arrests have been made.

According to Mail Online, Police spokesman Ola Österling confirmed forensic teams have been hunting for evidence.

He said: "We continue to secure clues and technical evidence with our forensic technicians.

"Several samples will be sent for analysis and are being analysed right now."

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven told the TT news agency TT: "It is a young life that has been lost, and I understand that he meant a lot to many young people.

"It's tragic that another life has been lost."

Minister of the Interior Mikael Damberg added in a statement to news website Expressen: "It is terrible.

"A young person has been brutally murdered. My thoughts are with the family and all the people who feel great sadness today.

"Now the police's murder hunt is in full swing."

Märta Stenevi, Minister for Gender Equality and Housing, added on Twitter : "Another young man has fallen victim to the deadly violence.

"Behind every headline is a family that has lost a child. I am thinking today of all those who have lost a relative."

The killing comes a year after the young star was reportedly kidnapped by a criminal gang who stole his Rolex wristwatch and two gold chains.

Einar's music has topped the charts in Sweden and he won two Grammis Awards, which are the country's answer to America's Grammy Awards.

He shot to fame back in in 2019 with the release of his track Gucci / Duckar Popo which scored more than a million hits on Spotify.

His second release, Katten i trakten, scored him his first number one hit in the Swedish charts.

The rapper released three albums over the course of his short career.

His first two, Första klass andNummer 1, debuted at number one back in 2019 while his third, Welcome to Sweden, was released a year later and landed at number two.

Last year, he won Newcomer of the Year and Hiphop Artists of the Year at the country's prestigious Grammis Awards.
