New Delhi: A day after India achieved the milestone of 100 crore vaccinations in the country, the Union government on Friday informed that more than 11.65 crore unutilised COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States and the Union Territories.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), more than 104.5 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been provided to states and union territories so far.

The COVID vaccination drive has been ramped up through the availability of more vaccines, advanced visibility of vaccine availability to states and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain, the health ministry said.

"A total of 1,04,58,46,415 vaccine doses have been provided to states and union territories so far through the government of India (free of cost channel) and through the direct state procurement category," it added.

According to Co-WIN portal data, over 71 crore vaccine doses were administered as the first dose, while more than 29 crore as the second dose.

More than 75 per cent of India's adult population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with nine states and union territories administering the first dose to all eligible people.

While addressing the issue of vaccine hesitancy, the prime minister said that India has proven to the world that with concerted efforts, it is possible to bring even those people under the vaccination programme.
