Storm Ashley is set to batter parts of the UK this weekend with amber and yellow weather warnings now in place for parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and in both northern and southwest England

The warning has been extended to cover almost the entire region with wind gusts of 55-65mph expected

The Met Office issued a rare "danger to life" warning yesterday in relation to Storm Ashley's destructive winds that could lead to large coastal waves and loose beach material that pose a risk to human safety

As Storm Ashley approaches the UK the Met office map shows exactly when and where it will arrive. Weather warnings are in place for parts of the country and forecasters expect damage in some areas

Met Eireann has warned that Storm Ashley could lead to the possibility of coastal flooding, fallen trees, very difficult travelling conditions, damage to power lines and potential power outages

The warning covers seven counties on Sunday while a yellow wind warning will be in effect for the rest of the island of Ireland.

Storm Ashley is set to arrive in the Republic of Ireland, followed by parts of the UK from Sunday, as the Joint Cyclone Centre warned its winds could tonight reach 110mph

The storm may cause coastal flooding, with southwest gale force winds of up to 130km/h that may also cause power outages and damage to weakened structures as well as tough travel conditions

Gales are due to hit some areas, with the Met Office warning of a ‘danger to life’ while torrential rain is forecast to cause disruption as the government issues hundreds of flood warnings
