To mark his first visit to Australia as sovereign, King Charles has received several significant military honours.

His Majesty has been appointed to several honorary military ranks in the Australian Armed Forces.

King Charles has been appointed as Admiral of the Royal Australian Navy, Field Marshal of the Australian Army, and Marshal of the Royal Australian Air Force.

Chief of the Defence Force Admiral David Johnston explained the significance of the appointments, saying ”The Sovereign serves as an example of service, and His Majesty’s appointments are symbolic of the Royal Family’s longstanding dedication and relationship with the nation…since Australian Federation in 1901, Australia’s military forces have been custodians of great traditions connected to the Commonwealth, and 123 years later the Australian Defence Force is proud to continue this legacy.

When they are in Canberra on Monday, The King and The Queen will be visiting the Australian War Memorial.

On Tuesday, 22 October, The King and Queen will be carrying out a full Fleet Review of five navy ships: HMAS Hobart III, HMAS Warramunga II, HMAS Arunta II, HMAS Gascoyne II, and HMS Yarra IV

After arriving in Sydney on Friday, King Charles and Queen Camilla met with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Governor-General Sam Mostyn.
