King Frederik shared an update on his mother’s condition after she was hospitalised earlier on Thursday due to a fall.

Queen Margrethe, the former Danish monarch, was hospitalised after she fell at her home at Fredernsborg Palace in Copenhagen on Wednesday, 18 September.

She was taken to Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen to be treated, the largest teaching hospital in Copenhagen.

King Frederik gave a public comment on how his mother is feeling now. He shared, ”She is well, comfortable and in safe hands at Rigshospitalet. We’ll take it day by day, let doctors decide, if any action should be taken. ”

He responded to the reporter’s question about his mother swiftly when he was asked upon his arrival for the centennial anniversary of the Copenhagen Boys Choir.

The Danish Royal Family’s head of communications, Lene Balleby, also shared information, saying ”according to the circumstances, the Queen is doing well but was admitted for observation for the time being.

Queen Margrethe has maintained a busy schedule of engagements since she abdicated in favour of her son in the middle of January 2024; engagements for the foreseeable future have been cancelled while she is recuperating.

The former Danish Queen has had serious issues in the last decade. In February of 2023, she underwent extensive back surgery after suffering from continual back issues for years.
