Supreme Court's YouTube channel disrupted; efforts on to restore service

The Supreme Court’s official YouTube channel, which would live-stream the court proceedings of the listed cases and matters related to public, has been hacked, reports said.

The channel, they said, started streaming videos by a US-based company called Ripple Labs all of a sudden.
The Supreme Court’s Registry took cognizance of the breach and was said to be taking required measures to recover the channel.

The hackecd channel also displayed a live blank video.

The disruption took place when the channel was broadcasting the suo motu case related to the alleged rape and murder of Kolkata’s trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital.

There were many other cases that the Supreme Court was slated to hear in the day ahead.
“It was detected Friday morning and the Supreme Court’s IT team had taken it up with the National Informatics Centre (NIC),” a court’s official was quoted as saying in the media reports.

In 2018, a unanimous decision was taken regarding the live-streaming of the Supreme Coiurt’s proceedings.
