Last month's excellent Silent Hill 2 remake will be treated to PS5 Pro support, as it's been spotted the game's PS Store listing now spots a PS5 Pro Enhanced tag. Bloober Team and Konami haven't detailed what those upgrades will be just yet, but we've reached out to PR to try and gain more information.
On the base PS5 console, Silent Hill 2 offers a Quality Mode and Performance Mode, with the former utilising a dynamic 1440p resolution at 30 frames-per-second and the latter running at 1080p with 60fps. Neither option is entirely perfect, so it's likely the PS5 Pro will clean them both up and potentially offer a PS5 Pro-specific mode that combines the best of both the resolution and frame rate worlds.
Silent Hill 2 is one of a couple other PS5 titles that have received the PS5 Pro Enhanced tag today, with others including Slitterhead and UFC 5. We've queried Konami PR and will update this article if we hear anything back about the specific PS5 Pro enhancements.

About Liam Croft
Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he's found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.

Let me be the first to say, PS5 Pro is unnecessary, not worth the cost and the differences are not noticable. Also, i hate everyone who buys this and oh yeah screw Sony. There, now you don't have to. 😌
Edit: Yes, its definitely sarcasm

YESS! Been waiting on this one. Can't wait. Too bad it missed halloween but oh well. This and alan wake 2 I'm excited to play on pro.
Yet another game I have, that I won't be able to play on my pro tomorrow because of..... disk drive! I really do hope they come back in stock soon!
@LogicStrikesAgain for someone with logic in their name, that was a bit silly to say.

I'll have to add that one to the shopping list then!
@DonJorginho Happy to see this - while the game doesn't look or run bad for me (playing quality mode at 40fps on a 120hz TV), the use of PSSR instead of FSR is the main point for me, as the latter produces a lot of visible artifacting when things move.
Unfortunately, I'll be putting Outlaws on hold until I can buy a disc drive for the Pro :/
Yes yes yes this is the one I was hoping for !!! It runs okay on base but it can be jarring and stutter-y lol
It already looked fantastic and ran pretty well (in quality mode) so I'm very excited to see the improvements. IQ cleaned up and running at 40fps (please give us the option!) would be lovely. An improved quality mode with extra RT, such as shadows and better reflections, would be a great addition too 👍

Yesss. Maybe it'll get rid of that horrible shimmering on surfaces and I can gear up for my second run.

Wait the base version’s Quality mode isn’t even 4K at 30fps?? That is pretty bad.

Awesome, now all the devs are working to add support for their games when they could be working on new things instead. Wondering if this will create a small stagnation in new game releases over the ne... ugh... it doesn't matter.

@PloverNutter This is what i find funny. When the PS5 came out, some people were bashing the low capabilities of its ray tracing. Now games are coming out with full on ray traced global illumination and the like. And people are complaining that it cant even do native 4K.
This people, is why a mid gen refresh is a nice addition to have. You cant expect a base console to last 7 or 8 years, while graphics get better for some games, and still expect it to run on native 4K

I was hoping this would be ready for the 7th. Still holding off on playing it. I have this and Space Marine ready
I gave this a miss due to performance mode... er... performance.
Might be time to add back onto my ever growing list!
God damn it, was gonna finish my disc copy before switching over as I can't get a disc drive (and I'm not paying no scalper).

@LogicStrikesAgain ok so it has ray tracing enabled in both modes. That makes more sense but still not well optimized, due to the use of UE5 as @DennisReynolds mentioned. I wonder what the new Pro enhancement will be. If it can allow 4K at 60fps with the ray tracing enabled then Silent Hill 2 could be used as the game which shows the power of the Pro fully to people doubting why it exists.

@PloverNutter Yes thats true, Unreal Engine 5 is a troubled engine.
Very curious to see what the enhancements for Silent Hill 2 will be as well.
