Metaphor: ReFantazio Rewards Gamers for Practising Cleanliness, Good Hygiene

Read into that what you will

by · Push Square

In what we are sure is not meta-commentary on the state of gaming conventions, Atlus has reminded us all of the benefits of bathing regularly and practising good hygiene in Metaphor: ReFantazio. We wonder how many players will find themselves unconsciously washing more regularly, having been trained to do so in pursuit of permanent stat buffs.

Scoured by GamesRadar+, the outlet noted that once you reach the meat of the game and gain access to the Gauntlet Runner, you can gain a small amount of EXP by regularly showering. Far more beneficial (and for reasons we don't fully understand), by using the toilet aboard on Idlesday, players can earn a permanent increase to their Luck stat, and this can be done each and every week. It's good to be regular.

That was already in Persona 3 (using the toilet at school).

Wtf lol. 50hrs in and now feel like restarting to boost my luck stat.

That's such a good thing 🤣

Poop to win?....

(Caught by the short comment limit!)

Habit forming helps with immersion as well. If it helps in real life, pure bonus.

@gollumb82 Did it give a stat bonus though? I don’t remember anything happening. Unless it doesn’t notify you…

@LavenderShroud
Not really a stat bonus, but it did say that visiting the toilet decreased you tiredness level, so I’d say it counts 🙂

I would end up trainer activating to max my states at level one anyways. But this is pretty cool

About 30hrs in I haven't even had the gauntlet runner. Game is just sooo good. Zorba saying "Now daaaance for me!" will always be memorable for me.😁

Interesting detail, I mean I appreciated the blood flicking off in Oneechanbara to make it easier to fight, added some detail I hadn't seen other games do.

Or the oil filling up bonus you get in Gran Turismo games that helps with a better speed/acceeleration increase (not sure but it does help, oil lowering does change the way the car operates after all besides tires) and it's not a pseudo/placebo solution so cleaning your character for XP in Metaphor...... sure why not.

Ark dropping some on command than from animals to fertilise crops.

If the same happened in the Sims then it too would be one of those quirky things games do that are just cool little tricks to do. But nope those are just typical stats, but then again the objects in buy mode do sometimes help but usually not enough for the stats to stabilise just make it a tad less annoying when have the Simoleons.

It's the little things.

@gollumb82 You really do learn something new everyday. Thanks! I’ll have to play it again when I can.

Important lesson for Fatlus fans.

@gollumb82 @LavenderShroud Yeah, in the original versions it could let you explore Tartarus a little longer. Reload removed the fatigue system, so it's much less useful, but it can be used to give you a reminder of any upcoming activity deadlines.

@Orpheus79V
I didn’t know they removed it in Reload. I played an hour or so on Game Pass a while ago and honestly found the FES version more to my liking (emulated it on PCSX2).

@Rich33 Player Number Two?

@NEStalgia
Lol

Just over 10yrs ago gamers were trying to find toilets in Skyrim (and other games).
Now we get Luck boosts for using them regularly!?!.....
