October 2024 update is available for Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra in the US

The October 2024 security update is available for the carrier-locked AT&T Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. Notably, the US is the first where the Galaxy S24 series has received the new update. The update is around 443MB in size. The unlocked units of the Galaxy S24 series smartphones are expected to receive the new update soon.

It is purely a security update that fixes 42 vulnerabilities

The October 2024 security firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series devices is purely a security update. The update doesn’t offer any new features. It is the latest update after they received the One UI 6.1.1 update in early September. It fixes 42 security vulnerabilities that were found in the earlier software build. The update brings fixes for two very critical security problems.

Apart from this, there are fixes for 28 vulnerabilities that are dubbed “high-level”. Furthermore, the new update fixes 12 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items to enhance security. The SVEs are specific to Samsung’s products and in-house applications. Notably, the latest firmware fixes any issues related to the system service, Knox service, and others.

As always, the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra are getting the October 2024 patch over the air. The update is rolling out in a phased manner. It could take some time to reach your device. You can also manually check if it’s available for you by heading to Settings > Software update & hit the Download and install button.
