Argentina's prosecutor office has said Liam Payne may have been 'semi-conscious or completely unconscious' when he fell from a hotel balcony. The Wolverhampton-born singer, who shot to fame as part of One Direction, tragically died in Buenos Aires on Wednesday.

The Daily Mail reports that detectives investigating the 31-year-old's death confirmed that a series of substances were seized from the hotel room, which they said indicated a 'previous situation of alcohol and drug consumption'. Photographs, which appeared to show a smashed television, and surfaces covered with tin foil and white powder, have also emerged, allegedly taken inside the star's room.

The publication said a preliminary report into the father-of-one's death said 'everything indicates' he had been alone when he died. Preliminary autopsy findings revealed he died from "multiple traumas", which caused "internal and external bleeding".

Forensic reports showed no injuries were observed that suggest third-party involvement, the prosecutor's office said. However officials were still looking into the 'possible involvement of third parties' in the events before his death.

Argentine investigators were now said to be looking for two 'key witnesses', who could be among the last people to see Liam alive. The women were thought to have spent time with Liam at the hotel the night before his shock death, and police hoped they could help piece together his final moments.
