Zayn Malik issues huge 'update' one week on from Liam Payne's death

Zayn Malik has issued a huge tour update after the "heartbreaking" loss of his One Direction bandmate Liam Payne. Malik is preparing to get back on the road following the tragic death of Liam, who starred on ITV The X Factor alongside him.

Malik announced the new schedule on Wednesday for his shows that were previously set for October 23 to November 3, promoting his fourth solo album Room Under the Stairs . The new dates include January 21 in Washington DC.

Other dates are January 24 and 25 in New York, January 28 and 29 in Los Angeles, February 1 in Las Vegas and February 3 in San Francisco. After Payne died at age 31 on Wednesday, Zayn shared on Instagram: “Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I’ve made the decision to postpone the US leg of the Stairway to the Sky Tour.”

He previously wrote on his Instagram Stories: "Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I’ve made the decision to postpone the US leg of Stairway To The Sky tour. The dates are being rescheduled for January and I’ll post them as soon as it’s all set in the next few days.

"Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for understanding." In a statement shared on Thursday evening the band said: "We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say.

"But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us.

"We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam. - Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry."
