Strictly Come Dancing's Nick Knowles has had to take a step back due to a fresh injury setback. The 62 year old telly star was all set to charm viewers during movie week with his dance partner Luba Mushtuk.

Sadly, the pair have had to bow out of this week's show, holding onto hopes of making a comeback the following weekend. In a heartfelt video message broadcast on Strictly's sister show It Takes Two, hosted by Janette Manara, Nick and Luba expressed their regret but stayed optimistic.

Speaking to fans, Nick disclosed: "So during our first dress rehearsal today, our run-through of the dance number on the stage, unfortunately, I damaged my knee and it's quite painful." He went on to detail the medical guidance he's been given: "So the physios have decided that I need to go for an MRI."

Luba added her voice of encouragement, stating: "Yeah, so unfortunately we'll not be dancing tomorrow but we really really hope that the knee will be better for the next week and yeah, we'll be back on the dance floor," as reported by the Mirror, reports the Express.

Keeping spirits high, Nick promised fans: "Fingers crossed, we really hope we'll be back and see you all guys very soon." With a touch of humour, while holding his crutch, he quipped: "Even if we have to glitter up the crutches, I am determined to get back and to try and dance for you next week."

The emotional update on social media platform X has sparked a flood of support for Nick from his fans. One concerned fan posted: "Oh my God it's not even Nick's arm that's sustained an injury it's his knee... poor guy."

Well-wishers are pouring in, with one fan urging: "Get better soon Nick! Speedy recovery." Yet another supporter chimed in with the same vibe: "Aww get better soon Nick."

For movie week, Nick alongside Luba had planned to dazzle with a Charleston to 'Rain On The Roof' from the much-loved film Paddington 2. However, there's been a change in plan as announced on Strictly's official Instagram page on October 4.

In an update, Strictly revealed: "As per the rules of the competition, Nick and Luba will receive a bye through to next week when he is hopefully able to dance again. Everyone at Strictly Come Dancing wishes Nick a speedy recovery."

Ever since the current season of Strictly kicked off in September, it's been one hurdle after another for Nick. Just two days following the opening live show, he shared news of injuring his arm and shoulder while changing a tyre.

Despite all this, last weekend saw Nick get the all-clear from medics to continue waltzing.
