The incredible Birmingham Halloween House that trick or treaters flock to for a very good reason

by · Birmingham Live

Visitors beware! Vomiting workmen, flying ghosts and a zombie invasion greet trick or treaters bold enough to venture to a haunted house in Longbridge.

Jodie Fisher and her six children have been busy casting spells and transforming their humble home into a Halloween spectacle complete with skeletons, bones, glowing pumpkins, gravestones and body bags. The centre-piece is of a decrepit worker in hi-viz jacket, hard hat spewing green vomit into a toxic bin.

This is the third year running that Ms Fisher is showcasing her front lawn and porch. Her ghoulish haunt is currently undergoing work but she attached skeletons, cobwebs and hazard tape to the pipes.

Ms Fisher is an arts and crafts enthusiast and makes a lot of the display herself. The spooky spectacle was revealed on Monday (October 28) and will run for a week, with all proceeds going to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

She said: "I've got all the bits from previous years and I store everything in boxes in the garage. I made the vomiting skeleton, added the axes and other decorations.

"The landlord is having the work done so I've incorporated spiders, cobwebs, two skeletons, 'do not enter' tape to the scaffolding and skip. The builders think it's brilliant.

"I've got pumpkins with lights on the front door, cobwebs and spiders across the fence with a hanging witch and ghost face with an axe. I've painted 'Beware' across the white garage door in bright red - I have to repaint the garage door every year.

"I've got the skeleton with a toxic waste bin being sick in green. This year because of how popular it's been, I've decided to fundraise for the Birmingham Children's Hospital.

"I've had close friends with poorly children who have been treated there and they've been great." Ms Fisher switches the front lights and zombie projections on around 4.30pm and turns the display off around 10pm.

"My children and all the children in the neighbourhood love it. They love all the costumes, Halloween is my favourite season."
