Comedian Chris McCausland has opened up about the gruelling training for Strictly Come Dancing, saying he "hit a wall" after the week of rehearsals. The 47-year-old reflected in his new column that intense four days of rehearsals left him completely "knackered", raising doubts about his ability to pull off the routine.

On reflecting on his Movie Week Jive performance, he admitted: "Our first two run-throughs were not great if I'm honest. A lot of the technical aspects that Dianne had drilled into me that week were nowhere to be seen, and my energy levels were rubbish."

In a candid admission about his taxing practice sessions, he confided to The Telegraph: "The mistake I then made was trying to run it for a third time when I was probably incapable of even running for a bus, and I ended up messing it up in ways that would have left Craig Revel Horwood rubbing his hands with glee and with way too much to say."

Despite the setback, Chris and his dance partner Dianne, aged 35, miraculously pulled off their Jive to the Wayne's World theme flawlessly come Saturday night. To his amazement and relief, they managed to impress the judges, securing a remarkable score of seven from the notoriously stern Craig Revel Horwood.

Previously, he had spoken to Digital Spy about his playful rivalry with the judge, revealing: "Do you know what, he's a character isn't he? I'll poke him with a stick and see what I get out of him.", reports the Express.

Overcoming yet another hurdle, Chris took to social media earlier this week to share he was feeling under the weather just as another pivotal training session loomed, but he remained determined, stating he was "falling apart" yet still "motoring on like a soldier".

Chris, battling a cold, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share his struggles but remained upbeat, saying: "I've had a cold. I'm falling apart, but I'm motoring on because I'm a soldier. But we're getting through the dance with the song, all the way through, occasionally better than where it was yesterday," as reported by Birmingham Live. Dianne, during the clip, shared Chris's light-hearted warning: "I've got a bug, my throat's a bit sore, my nose is bunged up, just letting you know in case you want to wear a helmet."

The pair gave it their all last night, performing a Salsa to 'Down Under' by Men at Work, in a bid to secure their spot in Week Five of Strictly Come Dancing.
