Martin Lewis has issued a warning over reports of a National Insurance change he thinks is "very unlikely." The BBC Sounds and ITV star has moved to reassure people over reports people who paid NI AVCs (Additional Voluntary Contributions) to raise their NI record and State Pension has put-themselves over the threshold for Winter Fuel Payment?.

Martin said: "I would hope that is very unlikely. In my shows/guides I included the risk of NI top ups for those with no other income due to Pension Credit eligibility (which is worth £3,900/yr so the extra Winter Fuel loss, which was obviously unknown is only a fraction of that) and noted you had to factor it in yourself as its something the Future Pension Service wouldn't cover in its one-on-one advice (something I always pushed people to do)

"And truth be told even if people missed the warnings the subset of those with a) Enough money to buy a top up b) But little enough money to get pension credit c) Who's top up gained them less than their Winter Fuel is worth Is likely to be very small if not non existant."

Responding to a Twitter/X user personally, Mr Lewis said: "I would hope that is very unlikely. "If you are a disabled pensioner and have made up your stamps to a Full Pension you also miss out on a further £81.50 per week for the disabled element attached to Pension Credit, you don't comment on that Martin," one Twitter user replied.

"How long do you think it'll be before people realise that the last Tory tried it's hardest to keep this countrys head above water during 3 massive economic shocks,Brexit,COVID,which specifically impacted trade the inflation, and Russia invading Ukraine impacting fuel," another said.
