Despite Ruth Langsford's composed handling of her split from Eamonn Holmes, insiders suggest she has retaliated following his public display of affection with new love interest Katie Alexander. The couple were spotted last weekend on a lavish getaway in Barcelona, Spain, where Eamonn Holmes, 64, was seen with his arms wrapped around Katie, 42.

They were later seen arriving at his new bachelor flat in Kingston, South West London, following Eamonn's surprising exit from the home he once shared with Ruth in Weybridge, Surrey. In a previous interview, Eamonn expressed his wish to remain friends with his former wife, but it seems Loose Women star Ruth has moved on, ruling out any chance of a reunion.

Just days before his holiday with Katie, Eamonn made an unexpected visit to his old residence to collect some vacation clothes for their cruise. Seizing the opportunity, Ruth playfully removed the £2,000 stairlift, which had been installed to help him navigate the curved staircase to his old bedroom due to his severe back problem.

A source revealed: "Ruth has remained quiet and classy. Even when people bring up what Eamonn has been up to, she stays silent and just smiles.

"She thinks that is the best way. She has had a lot of support from her friends. But one thing she would see every day was the stairlift which Eamonn installed.

"Ruth doesn't need it. She's super-fit and healthy but she knew Eamonn probably would struggle when he had to go the house to get some bits he needed for the holiday. The bedrooms are upstairs and he needed to get to them," the source told the Daily Mail.

They added that it might seem 'petty' but that Ruth's friends had found it 'hilarious' that Eamonn was 'furious'. Eamonn, who recently said he felt like he is 'on borrowed time', relies on a wheelchair due to chronic back pain and is currently undergoing intense physiotherapy sessions.

In 2016, the celebrity underwent a double-hip replacement operation following years of severe pain. Then in 2018, Eamonn shared his struggle with shingles, before being hit by chronic back pain in 2021. The pain became so intense that he had to rely on a walking stick, and he discovered it was three slipped discs affecting the movement of his right leg.

In September 2022, Eamonn underwent crucial back surgery to alleviate his chronic back pain. Then in November 2022, he suffered a dreadful accident when he tumbled down a flight of stairs at his Surrey home, resulting in a broken shoulder just weeks after his significant spinal surgery.
