The UK faces a -1C snow snap with maps and charts showing exactly where faces flurries. According to the latest data from WX Charts, parts of the country will plunge to below freezing on November 7 with snowfall likely in some areas.

Northwest Scotland looks set to be hit hardest, with places from Wick and Inverness to Aberdeen facing as much as 2cm per hour. But as well as Scotland north of the border, other areas further south - including Devon and Cornwall - could be struck too.

Wales could also experience some snowfall as we head towards mid-November. Snow, sleet, icy rain and heavy rain are anticipated across swathes of the country, with the weather taking a downturn from November 6 and stretching into November 7.

Scotland will be worst-hit and bear the brunt of the flurries. Looking ahead at mid-November, Netweather TV says: "This period will probably be somewhat more unsettled, probably with the jet stream taking a relatively southerly track and low pressure systems tracking over the British Isles, so it will probably be on the wet side for most of the country, but perhaps drier than average for the north and west of Scotland.

"Temperatures are likely to be above normal for most of the UK, especially early in the period, perhaps trending nearer average late in the period when there is increasing potential for northerly and north-westerly winds to feature as low pressure transfers further east. Sunshine totals will probably again be mostly below normal except in northern Scotland."

The Met Office makes a mention of snowfall in its forecast for mid-November, suggesting "perhaps" snow could hit on higher areas and elevated parts of Scotland as we move deeper into the year and towards the Christmas period, away from October.

The next monthly outlook forecast from the BBC is set to be released today.
