Road closed following building fire near Birmingham Airport

A road which runs close to Birmingham Airport is closed in both directions following a fire. A blaze broke out in a building on Goodway Road in Elmdon, around 2.30pm on Wednesday (Oct 23).

The road is closed from Rangoon Road to Irving Road while fire service personnel deal with the incident. No other details are available at present.

The bus service number A10 is currently on diversion and avoiding the road. It is not known what caused the blaze or if there have been any injuries.

Traffic Provider Inrix said: "Goodway Road in both directions blocked due to building fire from Rangoon Road to Irving Road. Diversion - for bus service A10."

West Midlands Fire Service said they have three crews on the scene which is still ongoing. A spokesperson said: "The incident started at 2.30pm and we are still in attendance.

"We have three crews present." The A10 bus route runs from Solihull to Cranes Park, and stops at Elmdon Park and Tanhouse Farm Road.
