Chris McCausland asks Dianne same heartbreaking question after filming Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland has revealed the heartbreaking comment he repeats to partner Dianne Buswell after every round of the competition.

Chris, who is the BBC show’s first blind contestant, is now bookies' favourite to take home the Glitterball trophy. The comedian has won legions of fans with Dianne, thanks largely to their close bond and daring routines.

But the 47-year-old was apprehensive ahead of the show, and admits he wasn’t sure if he could even do it. When asked by Heat magazine if he thought he would do so well on the show, Chris replied: “No. Every time we get through I say to Dianne ‘I got away with that, didn’t I?’

“It’s gone better than I thought it would, because I had no idea whether I’d be able to do it at all, which is partly, which is partly my doubt and partly the fear of doing Strictly. That first episode, to say I was s******* my pants is an understatement.”

Two weekends ago, Chris received his highest score of the competition so far with an emotional Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone, an anthem in his native Liverpool. He followed it up with a Samba to Bee Gees classic Stayin' Alive for the Halloween special.

However, the routine was less popular with the judges, securing three sevens and a five from Craig Revel Horwood. While Chris has won over fans with his personality and his dance ability, some have been concerned about what could happen if the comic has a bad week, reports The Express .

On social media, one wrote: "I love Chris, not just his humour and comebacks but he is genuinely a great dancer, I think he’ll make it all the way…the only issue is, if he’s in a dance-off against say, Tasha, it’s still judges vote how can they choose him over her?

They continued: "The public would for sure, but the judges if they’re going on technicality?? I’d want him in there though 100% already deserves to be in the final in my eyes.”

Another added: “If the public are voting for him so heavily Chris will never have to worry about a dance-off."

Strictly Come Dancing returns at 6.30pm on BBC One on Saturday.
