During Thursday's BBC Breakfast, Carol Kirkwood addressed a technical issue as she concluded her weather segment.

Naga Munchetty interjected with a query after the forecast, noting: "Lots of people getting in touch this morning. I'm sure you'll be aware as well at the weather centre. The BBC app is giving some rather confusing information can you explain? ".

Carol acknowledged the issue, stating: "It certainly is, we're having a technical glitch at the moment it's showing speeds far too fast, in fact, hurricane strength."

The popular weather presenter reassured viewers regarding the inaccurate UK forecast data displayed on the app.

Continuing her response, she clarified to the audience: "That is not the case, at all so please do not be alarmed by that and we are, as you say Naga, well aware of it and we are on it.", reports the Express.

She added optimism about resolving the issue soon, saying: "We're trying to fix it right now so hopefully that will sort itself out in the not-so-distant future."

In a lighthearted exchange, Naga cheekily suggested Carol would take on the repair job herself.

Answering humorously, Carol agreed: "So you're going to get back with your screwdriver and your welding torch? ".

She jestingly told Naga she would don the appropriate safety gear to tackle the glitch.

Ending the conversation, Naga teased: "You get back to it! It'll be sorted soon if you're in charge."

The mishap was brought to light after concerned viewers from across the country voiced their issues on Twitter.

Taking to social media, one concerned resident shared a screenshot of the extreme warning and commented: "I have a feeling the BBC weather app may have made a mistake..... at least I hope so."

On the same note, another user posted: "Yikes.... I'm hoping the BBC app has a problem. ".

In response to the bizarre forecast, a bewildered viewer questioned: "@BBCBreakfast bit of a glitch on the weather app? A bit of a breeze expected? ".

Adding to the alarm, someone else remarked: "The @bbcweather app is worrying me slightly. Currently has Darlington in the northeast of England down for hurricane-force winds of 15385mph all day today! ", voicing their apprehension.
