Strictly Come Dancing enthusiasts have already crowned Chris McCausland this year's champion after his latest show-stopping performance.

The 47-year-old comedian and first-ever blind contestant on Strictly, Chris McCausland, wowed the judges and viewers alike with a high-energy salsa routine alongside his dance partner Dianne Buswell on Saturday night.

Anton Du Beke, one of the judges, was moved to describe his performance as "remarkable" while fans took to social media site, now known as X, to express their admiration and support.

One fan expressed their unwavering support: "Chris has been my winner from week one and I can't see that changing."

Emotions ran high for another viewer who shared: "Crying again at Chris McCausland on #Strictly. He's got to be the winner this year," reports the Mirror.

A third supporter was full of praise: "Really rooting for Chris and Dianne. Hoping they make it all the way to the final and win. So impressive to do those lifts without being able to see and then the little extra flourish at the end. Utterly fab-u-lous!!"

Another ardent fan insisted: "I have nothing to say except @chrismccausland and @dbuzz6589 MUST win the series! It's just phenomenal to see! ! There's a lot of fabulous dancers this year and I'm enjoying them all but Chris to win with Tasha in the final also."

Chris and his partner Dianne Buswell earned an impressive 30 points for their energetic salsa routine. Although the judges praised their performance, Anton du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood noted that Chris's footwork was occasionally "plonky".

However, Chris humorously reminded them of his progress, joking: "I didn't know what a salsa was on Monday morning! I brought in a bag of Doritos with me just in case."
